Vitral de la catedral

Diaz Garcia

Archaeologist, graduated in History and Geography, doctor of the
Department of History and Art History of the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona and a tanguero in his spare time.
For more than thirty years he has directed archaeological studies and excavations in the city of Tarragona and its territory, ranging from Iberian sites to interventions in the main monuments of the Roman city of Tarraco or the
surrounding villas, as well as studies of historic buildings or walls.
It combines professional work with research and dissemination of heritage, publishing in various scientific media and making visits for specialists and the general public to the sites and places of study, such as the city of Tarragona.

The city of Tarragona has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The tour that we will take through the streets of its historic center will allow us to visit an open-air museum with more than two thousand years of history, discovering the oldest Roman walls in the Iberian Peninsula, the monumental complex of the Provincial Forum of Tarraco, its cathedral combination of Romanesque and Gothic styles, and the urban framework of medieval heritage that distinguishes what is known as the Upper Part of Tarragona.
